Our Director

Megan Gallagher

Megan Gallagher is a graduate from Messiah College with a major in Elementary Education and a minor in psychology. Megan will also be graduating in May with a Master’s in Gifted Education through University of Nebraska Kearney’s online program. From the time she was 6 years old Megan has always wanted to be a teacher and work with young children. She loves getting to have an impact on their life. More importantly Megan loves teaching children about the love of Christ. She believes that there is nothing more special than getting to remind a child that they are loved unconditionally and that God has a plan for each of his children. Growing up Megan was heavily involved in her church and loves that she now gets to run exciting programs for children. On top of being the director of Anchors Away, she also runs the Vacation Bible School program at church. Megan is also the 4-year old teacher at Sunbeam Christian Preschool. She also serves on the Jackson Arts Ministry committee and teaches dance and performing arts classes through the program. Besides her love of working with children, Megan has also always loved musical theater, which is why theater week is her favorite week of camp. She also loves everything Disney. Megan looks forward to working with your children this summer as they engage in exciting activities and learn about how much they are loved by Christ!

Our Counselors

Hailey Tegen

Hi I’m Hailey Tegen! I recently just graduated high school and just started to become a camp counselor. I have become a counselor for many reasons! I have a lot of siblings from ages 1-17 that I love and care for, I have been babysitting for a while now from all different ages, had experience teaching in a classroom, and the big reason is because I want to become a teacher! Working with the children is and will be exciting for me since I am able to connect with them and start my career off with them. Kids have always had enjoyment when I am around them and I have always as well!

Erin Meyer

This is my fifth year as a camp counselor for Anchors Away, and it’s my favorite time of the year! I love working with the first and second grade class, and we try our hardest to make it the best experience possible. I am currently a studying history as a junior at The College of New Jersey. We have so many fun things planned for this summer, and I’m so excited to meet all of our campers!

Laura Mauro

My name is Laura Mauro. I’ve been working with children over 20 years now, professionally and personally. I’ve homeschooled my own four children for 16 years and have taught other children in a cooperative school environment. I had the pleasure of working with Anchors Away Summer Program during it’s pilot year. Why I desire to continue is because the program speaks for itself. The students are truly engaged with an intertwined symphony of learning, fun, excitement and surprise all in a Godly atmosphere. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of growing your child in Christ.

Gianna Storrow

Gianna is a fourth year college student at Rowan University who is working on a degree in Psychology with a minor in education. Gianna had experience working with children in many different settings such as babysitting as well as volunteering at the Children’s Specialized Hospital. Through her sorority, Alpha Sigma Alpha, she helps organize and run programs that work with children such as the Special Olympics, Camp Kesem, and Girls On the Run. She is excited to be back at Anchors Away for her third year. As she plans on going to graduate school for school psychology, working with children is something she loves and hopes to continue to do in her career. She had a blast working as a counselor at Anchors Away the past two summers and is looking forward to continue to do so this summer!

Alexa DiGiovanni

My name is Alexa DiGiovanni and I have volunteered at Vacation Bible School before and loved every second of it! I have previously helped teach many children of all ages through fun and hands-on activities. I am going to be a senior at Jackson Memorial High School and graduating as a part of the STEM Academy. This summer, the children and I will have an exciting and educational time by participating in this program. I cannot wait to get to know all the campers in July!
